Bishop John Bryson Chane Scholarship for Social Justice
The 2026 recipients are Valarie Basaijampinga, Alex Bateman, and Jacob Morvis. Valarie completed her senior year at Paint Branch High School this year and will be attending UMBC in the Fall, majoring in Public Health. Alex is graduating from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, attending George Mason University in the Fall. He plans to major in Biomedical Engineering, while pursuing his interest in music as well. Jacob is graduating from St. Alban's, elected to the Cum Laude Society. He will be attending the University of Chicago, majoring in Mathematics.
The ECW Board is awarding a scholarship of $2000 to each student. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To apply for the Bishop Chane Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Students must be active members of an Episcopal church within one of the eight regions of the Diocese of Washington. Demonstrate a commitment to social justice. Have plans to attend college the fall after their graduation.
Applications may also be mailed to ECW-EDOW. Applications must be postmarked by March 13th or submitted online by 11:59pm on March 13th to be considered for the school year beginning in the fall.

A transcript showing a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.,
